A letter from the Treasurer

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is my pleasure to provide you the Proposed 2021 Budget.

In preparation for the 2021 Budget, with the assistance of Cynthia Babb, we were able to review FY 2017, 2018, and 2019. With these numbers, I was able to average the amount in each line item to determine the best overall value. After many hours of going line by line, the proposed budget was shared with Cynthia so that we could plug in the employee benefits and pay.  We then worked together to adjust line items so that we ended up with a balanced budget. This budget was then sent to the Finance Committee for their review and with the proposed budget in hand, we met on August 27th, via a web meeting. The committee diligently reviewed each line item and after questions and discussion, it was recommended to the Executive Board at the September meeting where it was motioned and passed to be submitted to you our stakeholders at the upcoming Board of Governors Meeting.

As an item of note, FY2020 was not taken into consideration during the budgeting process due to the current pandemic that would not truly reflect our historical profit and loss statements.

Thank you to the following who helped to bring this balanced budget to our organization; Wesley Melson, Curtis Crawford, Gerald Layne, Steve Southworth, Toby Akers, and Cynthia Babb.

Should you have any questions about the proposed budget please contact me at rscarbrough@vavrs.com. In the body of your message please reference the General Ledger number so that I am able to know exactly what line you have a question about.

Respectfully,

Ryan Scarbrough
