RICHIE CANTILLION

On Friday, September 2nd Chancellor Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department's Fire Chief Richie Cantillon was taken to Mary Washington Healthcare's Emergency Department in Fredericksburg complaining of a severe headache. After some test it was discovered that Chief Cantillon was bleeding in the brain and a decision was made to airlift him to the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.

Upon arrival at UVA the scheduled surgery to stop the bleeding was delayed since his vital signs where not stable enough to undergo the procedure. On Saturday morning doctors were able to do the angiogram and it revealed the bleeding had stopped. He will undergo another angiogram on Wednesday after being taken off many of the medications. While the doctors have determined Chief Cantillon is currently stable, he has a long road still to travel and it will be an uphill journey.

Chief Cantillon is a very strong person and the news of his admission to the hospital has been a shock to many in the Fire and Rescue community in the Fredericksburg area. Please keep Chief Cantillon and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
