This change was reviewed, discussed and approved by the Board of Governors at the 2012 Annual Convention.

March 8, 2012 Letter from Michael Berg regarding EVOC Equivalents
Because the VAVRS State Office has received numerous calls on numerous occasions from EVOC
instructors and individuals asking what OEMS accepts as EVOC certification to meet the VA
Rules/Regulations requirements.
Below is directly from OEMS on February 23, 2012 :
The following training programs have been reviewed and are recognized as equivalents to the
emergency vehicle operator requirements established in the Virginia EMS Regulations (January 2003),
specifically; 12VAC5-31-1210; 12VAC5-31-1230; and 12VAC5-31-1270:
American Medical Response, Virginia Division EVOC Course
Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad, Emergency Vehicle Operator’ Course
Chesterfield County Fire Department, EVOC Program
Department of Criminal Justice Services Driver Academy EVOC Course and/or Instructor
