Membership Type Descriptions


VAVRS offers the following types of membership.
 

Agency Membership:

  • Agencies applying for membership shall submit acceptable evidence of adequate organization, trained membership and proper provisions for meetings and the acceptance of calls.
  • The agency shall accept all regulations of the VAVRS in force at the time by vote of its membership before the application is submitted.
  • All applications for Agency Membership shall be approved by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the Executive Committee or the Board of Governors (BOG) present and voting.
  • Agencies applying for membership shall make application on forms furnished by the VAVRS.
  • Dues for membership shall be submitted with application for members answering calls and participating in training according to the following schedule.
    • 1-10 Members = $100.00
    • 11-25 Members = $200.00
    • 26-49 Members = $400.00
    • 50 + Members = $800.00
  • Annually all agencies shall be required to pay dues per the schedule per member for those answering calls and participating in training as indicated on the Activity Report submitted for that year and shall receive copies of the VAVRS Publication.
  • Dues must be paid prior to the Spring Board of Governors meeting. (Art. III, Sec. 3-Par. C Item 1)
  • All agencies applying for Agency Membership shall have a Virginia Office of EMS license to operate and provide Pre-Hospital emergency medical service.
  • Any crew located in another state who serves the people of Virginia on a regular basis will be eligible for membership in the VAVRS.
  • All active member agencies shall maintain licensure as required by Virginia State EMS Rules and Regulations. If a member agency has their EMS licensure removed, they may continue to hold their active membership status, with dues paid, for a period not to exceed two years, while working to reestablish their licensure.
 

Supporting Membership:

  • Supporting Membership shall be any organization or business that wishes to support the VAVRS.
  • All applications for Supporting Membership shall be approved by two thirds (2/3) vote of the Executive Committee or Board of Governors present and voting.
  • All applications for Supporting Membership shall be made on application provide by the VAVRS.
  • Supporting Members choosing to take part in training provided by the VAVRS will be assessed dues of $200.00 a year.
  • Supporting Members choosing NOT to take part in VAVRS training will be assessed dues of $100.00 a year.
  • All new Supporting Memberships will be awarded a membership certificate, the VAVRS Publication and the VAVRS Directory.
 

Individual Membership:

  • Shall consist of individuals actively engaged in training and / or practice of rescue, lifesaving, and first aid work or those comparable activities of safety accident prevention, and prevention of loss of life, injuries and property damage by accident, fire or disasters for any cause.
  • Individual dues shall be $50.00 per year and each individual shall receive a membership certificate and a copy of the VAVRS Publication.
  • Individual Members shall have the opportunity to participate in Association training and shall be permitted to attend the annual Conference.
  • All applications for Individual Membership shall be approved by two-thirds (2/3) vote of the Executive Committee or the Board of Governors present and voting.
  • Applications for Individual Membership shall be made on forms furnished by the VAVRS.
  • A check for dues shall accompany the application.
